MRS. MARTIN HANSEN BURIED IN OAKLAND

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan 10, at Palmquist Funeral Home for Mrs. Martin Hansen, 78. She died the preceding Tuesday at her home in Oakland following a long illness.

Cenie Marie Hansen was born near Craig, Feb. 23, 1885, the ninth child of Jens and Stina Jensen. Her early life was spent in the Craig area.

On Jan. 22, 1913 she was united in marriage to Martin Hansen at Tekamah. To this union were born five children, one of whom preceded her in death, a son, Martin Lavern, having died in 1942 during the battle of the Coral Sea. He was the first casualty from Burt county in WWII and Mrs. Hansen was the first Gold Star Mother in Burt Co.

After having lived in the West Point and Lyons vicinities for many years, she moved with her husband to Oakland in 1941. On Jan. 22, 1963, she and her husband observed their golden wedding anniversary.

Survivors include her husband Martin; two sons, Harry of Riverton, Wyo. and Arthur L. of Manhattan, Kan.; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Bart of Crofton and Mrs. Myrtle Greasch of Buhl, Idaho; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Dodd, of Lodi, Calif., and Mrs. Christina Miller of Craig; one brother, Emil Jensen of Craig.

Three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Rev. Martin Reetz officiated at the services. Music was furnished by Mrs. Lloyd Heitshusen, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. John Ronnfeldt.

Pallbearers were nephews, Vernon Miller, Roy Miller, Holgar Hansen, Otto Meyer, Truman Chase and Fredolf Nelson. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.

All the children were present for the services except Mrs. Graesch who had visited here recently.
