Brother of Blairite Died Tuesday

Clyde Smith, 74, died at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair Tuesday following a long illness. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ernest Fredericks of 1385 South Street with whom he had made his home since coming to Blair from Council Bluffs.

Clyde C. Smith Buried At Tekamah

Funeral Services were held for Clyde Calvin Smith, Saturday afternoon, June 10, at the First Methodist Church in Tekamah.

The Rev. Donald Springer of Blair, assisted Rev. N. B. Blackman at the service. Burial was made in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died at the Blair Community Hospital on June 6, at the age of 74 years. In recent months he had made his home with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Fredericks. Prior to coming to Blair, he made his home in Council Bluffs with his sister, Leona Smith.

He and Bessie Sheets of Council Bluffs, Iowa, were married on June 12, 1912. They had three sons and they also took into their home and reared a niece, Ellen Harrison.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife on July 6, 1936 and a son, Lyle, also his parents and two brothers. After the death of his wife, Mr. Smith devoted his time to rearing his young sons and was always giving a helpful hand to others.

Survivors include the sons, Clyde, Jr. of Decatur, and Jarold of Whittier, Calif.; five grandchildren; his sisters, Miss Leona of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Ernest Fredericks of Blair; brothers, Delbert of Portland, Oregon and Dewey of Council Bluffs.
