Former Washington County resident Charles R. Hansen, 75, died June 16, 2004, at his home in McCook.

Funeral services were Saturday, June 19, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in McCook. Interment was in the Dannebrog Cemetery.

Charles Richard Hansen was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Kenmare, N.D., to Laurits Christian and Agatha Christina (Mengers) Hansen. He graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1946, and attended Dana College in Blair for one year.

On June 20, 1948, he married Arlene Mae Hatt. The couple owned and operated Hansen’s Market in Arlington for 34 years until they retired. They moved to McCook in 1996.

Mr. Hansen was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Laymen’s League. He was a scout master for 10 years, and also served on the Arlington Village Board of Trustees.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Hansen of McCook and Charles “Tom” and Pam Hansen of Fremont; two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Ellen Russell of Omaha and Sonja Lea and Boyd Yeager of Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Ethan and Pat Hansen of Atascadero, Calif.; two sisters and brother-in-law, Sara and Neal Walter of Blair, and Ellen Schooley; of Sacramento, Calif., and one sister-in-law, Doris Hansen of Aurora, Colo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, David Hansen.

Charles Richard Hansen, 75, died Wednesday (June 16, 2004) at his home.

He was born Aug. 26, 1928, to Laurits Christian and Agatha Christina (Mengers) Hansen in Kenmare, N.D. He graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1946 and attended Dana College in Blair for one year.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Hansen of McCook; two sons, Michael Hansen of McCook and Charles "Tom" Hansen and wife, Pam of Fremont; two daughters, Mary Ellen Russell of Omaha and Sonja Lea and husband, Boyd Yeager of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Ethan Hansen and wife, Pat of Atascadero, Calif.; two sisters, Sara and husband, Neal Walter of Blair and Ellen Schooley of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Doris Hansen of Aurora, Colo.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, 10 a.m., at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in McCook with the Rev. John Strecker-Bassler officiating. Interment will be in the Dannebrog Cemetery, 3 p.m.

Visitation is today until 5 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Friends may go on-line at www.carpenterbreland.com to send condolences.
