CHRIS S. HANSEN WAS KILLED AS TRACTOR FELL INTO CREEK

WELL-KNOWN FARMER WAS CUTTING STALKS NEAR CREEK BANK

Chris S. Hansen, 71, was killed Thursday afternoon when the tractor he was driving rolled into a deep creek. The tractor landed on top of Mr. Hansen.

The Blair Rescue Squad was called to the scene of the accident but Mr. Hansen was already dead. The Washington County Sheriff’s office, investigating the accident, reported that it appeared Mr. Hansen had been cutting corn stalks and the tractor drove off into the creek. The bank did not appear to have caved off or there weren’t any skid tracks that would indicate the tractor was out of control.

Chris S. Hansen was born at Elsie, Nebraska on June 27, 1899, and was, therefore, 71 years of age at the time of his death. He has farmed northwest of Blair most of his life and has been a long-time resident of the Cuming City School District.

He is survived by his wife, Mary and a son and a daughter. The son is David, who is at home. The daughter is Mrs. Elmer Dove (Marilyn) who lives at West Minister, Colorado. There are three grandchildren.

Martinus Hansen, of Blair, is a brother of the deceased man.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 P.M. at the First Lutheran Church in Blair. The Rev. Robert Albers will conduct the service and burial will be made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home.

The pallbearers will be Aaron Martin, Edward and James Hansen, Fred W. Jensen and Kenneth Jensen.
