Former Blair resident Dale L. Hansen, 62, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at his home in Newburgh, Ind.

Services were Sunday at Alexander Newburgh Chapel. The body has been cremated.

Dale Leroy Hansen was born Dec. 20, 1945, in Omaha to Water and Lillian Hansen.

He graduated from Blair High School in 1964.

He was a United States Navy veteran serving in Vietnam from 1964 to 1966.

On Dec. 31, 1966, he married Cheryl Jipp.

Mr. Hansen’s job took him to Rockport, Ind., where he worked for Commonwealth Electric as the power plant superintendent.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Shepherd of Paradise Lutheran Church, and Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3215. He enjoyed woodworking and yard work.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughters and son-in-law, Marsha and Ron Wortz, and Melissa Hansen; a granddaughter; brother, Howard Hansen, all of Springfield, Mo., and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tony and Margaret Snyder of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Amy Jo Hansen; sister, Betty Arlene Hansen; and in-laws, Art and June Jipp.

Memorials are suggested to the family, the American Diabetes Association, or the American Heart Association.
