Dale M. Hansen, 72, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at his home in Herman.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Herman Legion Hall, with interment in the Herman Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Dale Mark Hansen was born Feb. 24, 1934, in rural Herman to John X. and Alma Berthe (Hansen) Hansen.

He attended elementary and high school at Herman.

On Dec. 20, 1952, he married Merna Ruth Hull at the Methodist Church in Tekamah.

He served in the U. S. Army, entering the military by enlisting in February 1954. After serving his country in Fort Bliss, Texas, and Fairfax, Va., he was discharged in November 1955.

Mr. and Mrs. Hansen farmed in the Herman and Blair area most of their life. For more than 30 years, the couple owned and operated a poultry processing plant that served customers in Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri.

In 1975, the couple moved back to the farm where he was born and raised. They built a new house and continued to live on the property.

For the past 11 years, Mr. Hansen had been an active member of AA; he was also a member of the Herman American Legion Post.

He is survived by his wife, Merna; sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald John and Debbie Hansen of Elkhorn, Mark Allan Hansen of Yankton, S.D.; daughter-in-law, Debbie (Mrs. Bob) Gloden of Fort Calhoun; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Hansen of Lincoln Park, Mich., Doris Ferdon of Omaha, Linda Hull of Cedar Bluffs, Peggy Hull of Fort Lupton, Colo., and Gloria Maxwell of Onawa, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Lee Hansen, in 1976; parents, a sister, Ruth Weaver; brothers, Bondo Hansen and Allan Hansen; infant sister, Mary; brothers-in-law, John Jensen, Allen Hull, David Hull, Jim Maxwell, Fred Weaver, and family friend, Carly Trisdale.
