Elliott Gordon Hansen, 82, son of C.X. and Ida (Hultberg) Hansen, died at Shandon, California, August 26, 1987.

He was born July 3, 1905, in Blair, and was baptized at the First Lutheran Church December 17, 1905, and confirmed June 8, 1919.

He graduated from Blair High School, and attended Dana College three years.

He served in the U. S. armed forces with the Marines, the Army and the Navy for a total of 16 years.

He enlisted in the Navy when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He took part in the battles of the Coral Sea, Midway, the occupation of Guadalcanal and the battle of Savo Island.

On August 9, 1942, his ship, the Astoria, was sunk and he was picked up as a survivor.

He spent greater part of his life in California, but spent many summers in Blair.

Survivors include brothers Harold Hansen of Blair; Winston Hansen of Payette, Idaho, and sister Lois Wulf of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Paul and Ernest, and sister Lillian.

Memorials are suggested to Dana College.
