OLD SETTLER SUCCUMBS TO CANCER

A. Lund, a resident of the state for the past fifty years, died at his home south of Blair on last evening after a long period of suffering from cancer.

Deceased was born in Denmark and came to this country fifty years ago, settling in Nebraska where he has since resided spending most of the time in this county although he has been a resident of both Saunders and Douglas counties.

On March 7, 1875 Mr. Lund was married to Miss Louisa Sorensen and to this union nine children were born of whom four girls and two boys are living and all well known and respected citizens. The are: Mrs. N.M. Jensen, Casper, Wyoming; Mrs. Will Sheets, Herman; Mrs. Andres Petersen, Blair; Mrs. A. Christensen, Blair; Chris Lund who resides at home with his parents and Louie, of Casper, Wyoming. At the time of the death the children were all here with the exception of Louie who is in Casper, but who is expected home in time for the funeral which will be held at the home on Friday at 2 p.m., definite arrangements for which have not been made.

DEATH OF ANDREW LUND

Death relieved the mental anguish and physical suffering of Andrew Lund last Tuesday night at his home south of this city. He had been a great sufferer from a malignant cancer on his head for many months and had sought relief from all the most noted cancer specialists in the country without avail. He had known for months that his days were numbered but all the time maintained that pleasant, cheerful demeanor which characterized his life.

He was a native of Denmark, coming to America fifty years ago and had been a resident of Nebraska all these years, the major part of that time in Washington County. He was married to Louisa Sorensen 39 years ago and of nine children born to them, two sons and four daughters survive. They are Louie, who was at Casper, Wyo. and did not arrive before his father's death and Chris. who lives at home, Mrs. N. M. Jensen, Casper Wyoming. Wm. Sheets, of Herman, Mrs. A. Christiansen and Mrs. Andres Petersen, of Blair. All of the children except Louie were present when death came and Louie is here now to attend the funeral.

Andrew Lund was a sterling character, large in mind and body and a most highly respected citizen.

The funeral will be held today at 2 p. m., at the Danish church, Rev. A. M. Andersen officiating.

The end came for Andres Lund at his home south of town last Tuesday night and relieved him of great suffering from cancer of the face. He had tried every known remedy and all to no avail. The funeral was held at the house at 2 Friday and at 2:30 at the Danish church, Rev. A. M. Anderson officiating. Mr. Lund was born in Denmark in 1847 and was therefore 69 years of age. He came to this country about fifty years ago and was married to Miss Louisa Sorensen in Omaha March 7th, 1875, and most of their married life has been spent in this county. Of their nine children two sons and four daughters survive: Louie and Mrs. N.M. Jensen of Casper, Wyo., Mrs. Wm. Sheets of Herman, Mrs. A. Christensen and Mrs. Andres Petersen of this city, and Chris who lived at home. All the children were here for the funeral service.

ANDREW LUND SUCCUMBS TO MALIGNANT CANCER

After suffering for more than a year from a cancer in a malignant form, Andrew Lund was relieved from his sufferings at 9:45 p.m. Sept. 19, 1916, when the angel of death claimed him. In the past year he has visited numerous cancer specialists but none were able to relieve him from the deadly malady.

Andrew J. Lund was born in Denmark in 1847, and came to Nebraska in 1866 and locating in Washington county where he has since resided. He was married in Omaha on March 7, 1875, to Mrs. Louisa Sorenson. To this union nine children were born, six of whom with his wife survive him. They are Chris, who resides at home; Louie, of Casper, Wyo,; Mrs. N.M. Jensen, of Casper, Wyo.; Mrs. Will Sheets, of Herman; Mrs. Andrew Peterson and Mrs. A. Christensen, of Blair. Mr. Lund is also survived by one brother and two sisters.

The funeral was held Friday from the home at 2 p.m. and from the Danish Lutheran church at 2:30 p.m., Rev. A.M. Anderson conducting the last rites. Interment was in the Blair cemetery.
