Clifford A. Lund, 86 of Fremont died Feb. 9, 2010, in the Fremont Area Medical Center.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment was in Fremont's' Memorial Cemetery with the United States flag presentation by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854.

Clifford A. Lund was born Nov. 10, 1923, on the family farm near Arlington to Albert and Bertha (Laaker) Lund. He grew up there, attending St. Paul's Lutheran School where he had also been baptized and confirmed.

He graduated from Arlington High School in 1941.

He served in the United States Army from February 1945 to November 1946.

On July 22, 1945, he married Marie Jensen in Hooper. After he finished his military commitment, he farmed near Arlington from 1947 to 1953. Then they moved to a farm south of Scribner. While farming, Mr. Lund had also worked for Campbell Soup Co. in Fremont. The couple retired in 1989 and moved into Fremont.

The Lunds had been members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont earlier, then transferred to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner while living there. Upon moving to Fremont, they again became members of Trinity Lutheran Church where Mr. Lund was a member.

He was a member of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854, both of Fremont. While living near Scribner he had served on the school board of District 22.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Linda Lund of Norfolk, Dave and Linda Lund of North Platte, and Gregg and Ellen Lund of Fremont; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elna Sievers of Englewood, Colo., and Verena Lund of Pasadena, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, in 2008.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and School and the Lutheran Family Services.
