LAWRENCE LINDGREN, 70

Services for Lawrence Lindgren, 70 of Fremont, who died November 23, 1993 at A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont were held Saturday, November 25 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Mark Grorus and Rev. David Jensen officiated. Military graveside rites were conducted by members of Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion post No. 20 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 854 at Memorial Cemetery.

Lawrence Lindgren was born July 6, 1923 at Wahoo, where he grew up and graduated from Wahoo High School. He farmed with his father until serving with the U.S. Army from 1944-1946, during World War II.

He moved to Fremont in 1962 and worked for the former Conrad Seed Co., then was manager for the former Fremont Elevator for eight years. He then worked for the former North Bend Grain Co., now Peavy Co. , at North Bend. He was a self-employed painter for the last several years.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fremont and was on the church council as a deacon and was a former Sunday School teacher for 30 years.

He served on the board of Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 232 of Malmo; Disabled American Veterans Post No. 18 of Fremont; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 200 of Fremont; Fremont Coin Club and was on the city’s Citizen Advisory Board and the Dodge County Extension board.

He married Norma Laudenschlager August 15, 1948 in Wahoo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; two daughters, Cheryl Lindgren and Donna Hillrichs, both of Fremont; a brother, Warren of Wahoo; a sister, Marian Vermeline of Malmo and a granddaughter.

Memorials have been established to the church’s Sunday School and Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
