Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 4 at the Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair for Lee W. Hansen, 68 of Herman, who died suddenly August 1, 1995 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City, Nebraska after becoming ill while visiting Arbor Lodge. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Lee W. Hansen was born January 9, 1927 in Tekamah, Nebraska to George William and Elfreda Fransen Hansen. He moved to the Herman area as an infant and attended the Belle Center and Hill Creek Schools.

He was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Tekamah.

He was a World War II veteran and served in Japan at the end of the war. He farmed west of Herman from 1964 until his retirement. He also worked as a nurseryman from 1951 in the Omaha and Blair areas and owned and operated Hill Creek Nursery.

He was a life member of the Herman American Legion and Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Nebraska State Nurseryman Association.

He married Gwen Lee Harper in Papillion, Nebraska, January 3, 1948.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Mike Smith of Herman and Jan and Terry Stodola of Blair; a son and daughter-in-law, Kieth and Cindi Hansen of Waterloo, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Randy, Pam, Melanie, Lynette, Sara, Connie, Joseph and Christopher; two sisters, Georgia Ray of Herman and Irma (Mrs. Virgil) Prien of Lyons, Nebraska and a brother, Ben of Blackfoot, Idaho.
