Lydia J. Hansen, 87, of Ruskin, formerly of Blair, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at Ruskin.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery.

Lydia Johanna Hansen was born April 13, 1911, on a farm near Blair to Mads P. and Pauline (Paulsen) Hansen.

She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on April 30, 1911, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. She was confirmed on May 24, 1925 at Blair.

She attended the Cumming City School near Blair.

On Oct. 6, 1936, she married Arnold Samuel Hansen at the First Lutheran Church in Blair.

During her lifetime, she lived in the communities of Blair, Ruskin, and rural Bostwick

She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and the Women’s Circle of Bethany.

She organized the Goldenrod 4-H Club and was its leader for many years. She helped organize the Round About Ruskin Extension Club and the Ruskin Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed crocheting and had made many afghans for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Violet Lipker and husband Gary, Ruskin, Gordon Hansen, Oakdale, Calif., Linda Hutchinson and husband Paul of Webber, Kan.; Sandra Maciejewski and husband, Ken, of Doniphan and Joyce Martin and husband, Brad, Crete; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Leona (Mrs. James) Hansen, and Mary (Mrs. Edward) Hansen, all of Blair, Eveliene (Mrs. David) Hansen of Hastings, Rachel (Mrs. Carl) Sorensen of Blair; brothers and sisters-in-law, Enos and Ruth Hansen and Harold and Hildegarde Hansen, all of Ruskin, Glen Hansen of Petaluma, Calif. and Eleanor Hansen of Audubon, Iowa; and a host of other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold of July 20, 1994; four brothers, Aaron, James, Edward and Martin Hansen, one sister, Mary Hansen; one half brother, Hans, and five half sisters, Bertha, Carrie, Johann, Lydia and Mary.

Memorial ware suggested in care of the family.

Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior was in charge of arrangements.
