MARTINUS HANSEN DIED AT AGE 80

Martinus Marinus Hansen passed away at the Good Shepherd Home on June 3rd. Funeral services were held June 5th at the First Lutheran Church in Blair. The Rev. Sanford D. Sorgen officiated and burial was in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home.

Mr. Hansen was born April 5th, 1894, to Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Hansen at Elsie, Nebraska. At the age of 10 he moved with his parents to Moorhead, Iowa. As a young man he served in the U. S. Army and is a veteran of World War I.

He was married to Johanne M. Eskelsen on April 6, 1924. They were the parents of three children, Mildred, Arlene and John.

Mr. Hansen farmed at Moorhead, Iowa, until 1950, when he and his family moved to Blair. He worked as a carpenter until his retirement. In 1971, Mr. and Mrs. Hansen became residents of the Good Shepherd Home.

He was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church in Moorhead and Blair and served on the Church Council at both places. He also served on the Board of Good Shepherd Home. For as long as he was able he was a member of a Bible Study.

His wife, Johanne and daughter Arlene preceded him in death. Survivors are his son, John of Salt Lake City and his daughter, Mrs. Norman Johnson (Mildred) of Anoka, Minnesota. Also two granddaughters, Marta and Jolene Johnson.

Pallbearers were: Edward B. Hansen, Philip Larsen, Edwin Jipp, David Hansen, Kenneth Truhlsen and Page Eskelsen.

Honorary pallbearers were: Marius Hansen, Elmer Bondo, Chris Frahm and Lloyd Hedlund.
