Nancy Fitch Oudheusden, 77, of Blair passed away on Tuesday, March 29th, after a long battle with cancer.

Nancy was born in Rome, NY, on July 11, 1939, the daughter of John and Norma Field. She attended Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. She married Rudy Oudheusden in 1962 and they lived in Rockford, IL, and then Sioux City, IA, where they raised two daughters.

Nancy taught high school math in Sioux City and Rome, NY. She had a passion for photography and travel, and was active in D.A.R., P.E.O., and Red Hat Society.

Nancy is survived by daughters Julie (Tim) Young of Blair and Melanie Young of Syracuse, NY, and 6 grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John W. Field, and granddaughter, Calista.

A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Blair on Saturday, April 2nd at 11:00 a.m.

Nancy Field Oudheusden, 76, passed away on March 29 after an eight year struggle with breast cancer. She was born in Rome, NY on July 11, 1939, daughter of Norma Fitch Field and John Weeks Field. She grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, got her Bachelor’s Degree at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, and her Masters from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. A perpetual student, Nancy continued to take photography courses throughout her life.

Nancy lived for a year in Japan and Thailand, traveled to India and Germany, and even went on safari to Africa twice! She also traveled the United States including Alaska and Hawaii, and took photographs everywhere she went. Her last trip was to Italy, with a cruise around Greece.

Nancy taught high school math in Sioux City, Iowa and Rome, NY. She was a member of 1st Lutheran Church in Sioux City; 1st Presbyterian in Utica, NY; and First Lutheran in Blair, NE. Nancy was a long-standing member and former chapter president of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Nancy loved to play piano, swim, dance, square dance, and take photographs. She won many ribbons and trophies from photography competitions. She was active in Red Hat Society, D.A.R., P.E.O., book club and her cancer support group.

Nancy would do anything for her two daughters, Melanie and Julie Young (Tim). She attended every game and recital for her grandchildren – she was the lady with the smile and the cameras.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Norma Fitch Field and John Weeks Field, her brother John W. Field, Esq, and her granddaughter Calista Marie. Nancy is survived by her daughters: Julie (Tim) Young (grandchildren John, Ben & Maggie), Melanie C.(Tim Crofut) Young (grandchildren Keegan, Holden & Violet, great-grandchild Zaden), and her cousin Shirley (Calvin) Gates.
