Robert L. Plugge, 79, of Blair, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colo.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m Monday, Oct 7 at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair.

Robert Lee Plugge was born Nov. 9, 1922, in Kennard to Henry and Lillian (French) Plugge. He grew up and graduated from Kennard High School and later attended Dana College until he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in January of 1942. Mr. Plugge served his country as a B-25 pilot during W.W.II.

On April 11, 1943, he married Ellenora Jensen.

He received his business degree from Van Sant Business College in Omaha after returning home from the service. He worked his entire business career at Vaugn Industries in Omaha, working his way up to partner/owner before retiring in 1990.

Mr. Plugge enjoyed flying, traveling, racquetball, golf, watching his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and playing cards and pool with his friends.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, a past member of the Blair School Board, and a member of the Blair American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Ellenora; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Julie Plugge, Rick and Patty Plugge, Randy and Michelle Plugge, all of Blair; daughter, Rita Engleken, and her fiancé, Tony Christensen, of Omaha; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Margaret Plugge of Kennard; sister-in-law, Dania Hundtoft of Blair; brother-in-law, Clarence Matzen of Blair; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church, Dana College, or the Blair Family YMCA.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
