(veteran) Services for Harold Hansen Jr., 69 of Uehling who died February 24, 1992 at Arbor Manor in Fremont were Friday, February 28 at Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Paul Hoffman and Vicar Brent Brook officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont with military graveside services conducted by the American Legion Post No. 196 of Uehling.

Harold Hansen was born March 21, 1922 in Herman. He moved from Herman to Fremont in 1939 and lived east of Fremont until 1960 when he moved to Uehling.

He served with the United States Army during World War II from December, 1942 to January, 1946 with the Quartermaster Corp in England and after D-Day in Belgium.

He started Harold’s Farm Service in 1969 and opened a store on Main Street in 1974. In Fremont, he worked for the Fremont Hatchery, American Hatchery, C.A. Swanson’s factory and a railroad company.

He was a Uehling volunteer fireman for 30 years. He was a member of Fremont Eagles Club No. 200, American Legion of Uehling, charter member and former commander of the Winslow/Hooper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the Uehling Business Club.

He married Audrey G. Eckerson February 10, 1946 at Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Yolanda (Mrs. James) Neill of Fremont and Deborah (Mrs. Leon) Beard of Herman; a brother, Clyde Hansen of Fremont; two sister Ruby June (Mrs. Gerald) Dibble of Ocala, Florida and Yvonne (Mrs. Nelson) Williams of Truman, Minnesota and five grandchildren.

A memorial has been established to the Dodge County Cancer Fund and to the Uehling Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Lattin-Dugan Chambers Funeral Home in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
