SERVICES ARE HELD FOR HENRY HANSEN

Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington on Wednesday, April 20, for Henry Hansen, 93, who died April 16, 1983, at Good Samaritan Center in Millard.

The Rev. Norman Schroeder officiated. Burial was in Flower Hill Cemetery.

Henry (Heinrich) Hansen was born September 17, 1889, southeast of Elkhorn to Henry and Elizabeth Kuehl Hansen. He was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Millard on June 1, 1890, and on April 16, 1905, he was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church south of Bennington.

He married Karoline Neuhaus on September 23, 1914. Two daughters, Caroline and Mildreth, were born to this union. Karoline died December, 1918.

He married Anna Peetz April 16, 1921. Six sons and one daughter were born to this union. Anna died February 4, 1949.

He farmed in the Elkhorn and Bennington areas. In May, 1969, he went to live with the LeRoy Hansen family in Omaha. When his health failed, he took up residency at the Millard Good Samaritan Center in September, 1975.

He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn for many years. On February 6, 1952, he transferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church at Bennington. He served his church as a board member and in other ways.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Karoline and Anna; four brothers, Carsten, William, Edward and Herman; four sisters, Emma, Katherine, Margaretha and Rose; and one grandchild, Regina Hansen.

He is survived by three daughters, Caroline (Mrs. LeRoy) Arrants and Mildreth (Mrs. Victor) Whisenand, both of California, and Rose Mary (Mrs. John) Lad of Omaha; and six sons, LeRoy Hansen of Omaha, Robert Hansen of New York, Harlan Hansen of Elkhorn, Delbert Hansen of Omaha, Gordon Hansen of Bennington and Henry Hansen of Omaha. Thirty-four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold Hansen of Omaha and Reinhardt Hansen of Blair; one sister, Frieda (Mrs. Art) Appel of Omaha; other relatives and many friends also survive him.

Casketbearers were John Lad, Steve Hansen, Ted Hansen, Douglas Hansen, Rich Hansen, Bill Hansen, Dave Hansen and Dennis Arrants.

Miran Sukraw was organist, Marguerite Hansen was soloist.

Hadan Golden Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
