Lavonne M. Hansen, 88, of Blair, died Sunday, May 17, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Lavonne Marie Hansen was born March 3, 1910, in Fremont, to Andrew C. and Agnetha (Stark) Hansen.

She graduated from Blair High School in 1925. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Midland College in Fremont in 1953 and did graduate work at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

She taught school for 35 years. She began teaching in four rural schools: Lacronne, Wranch, Sutherland and Cuming City. She also taught in the Waterloo Public Schools and taught 19 years in the Fremont Public Schools. She retired in 1968.

She had lived in Fremont and Blair. She was living in the Good Shepherd Home at the time of her death.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Blair, church circle, Alpha Delta Kappa and American Association of University Women.

She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Norma Hansen of Pensacola, Fla., Andrew “Butch” and Ruby Hansen of Blair, a sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Howard Pearson of Mayhill N.M.; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Fay Rose and brother, Niles Hansen.

Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church or Good Shepherd Home.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is Blair was in charge of arrangements.
