ORUM FARMER IS DEAD ED HANSEN, BORN IN OLD COUNTRY, HAD SPENT YEARS IN COUNTY

“Ed” Ole Edward Hansen, 63-year-old Orum farmer, died in an Omaha hospital, Dec. 5, following an extended illness. Funeral services were conducted at the Orum church Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. G. A. Carlson of Omaha officiating. Interment was in Blair Cemetery.

A resident of Washington County for 40 years, Mr. Hansen was born in Sonder Kirkeby, Falster Denmark on Febr. 26, 1880. He emigrated to American in 1903, coming at once to Blair where he was employed for two years as a farm worker. Later he spent four years in the employee of a railroad, returning permanently to farming in 1909.

Ole Edward Hansen of Orum passed away at an Omaha hospital on Sunday, December 5th, at the age of 63 years, 9 months and 9 days.

Deceased was born in Denmark, and when twenty three years of age came to America. He located in Blair where he obtained work as a farm hand for two years. Later he found employment on the railroads where he worked for four years.

He was married to Marie Miller on March 25, 1908 at Blair, and after another year on the railroad they moved to a farm west of Blair. To this union seven children were born, two sons, Jens and Carl, and five daughters, Mesdames Axel Hansen, John Taylor, Clarence Toelke, Floyd Welliver and Miss Edna at home.

The wife died on October 31, 1922 and on August 21, 1929 he married Kirsten Larsen of Orum. All these years he continued his farming operations until his death.

Those left to mourn his death besides the immediate family are one brother, Peter, of Fremont and two sisters, Mrs. Burt Johnson of Greenwood and Karolene Hansen of Denmark and eleven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at the Orum church with Rev. G. A. Carlson of Omaha officiating, and interment under the auspices of the C. K. Bendorf Mortuary was made in the Blair cemetery.

Mr. Hansen was married to Marie Miller March 25, 1908 at Blair. Seven children were born to the union, Mrs. Hansen passing away in October 1922. On August 21, 1929, Mr. Hansen was married to Kirsten Larsen of Orum.

The well-known Orum farmer is survived by his widow, two sons, Jens and Carl; five daughters, Mrs. Axel Hansen, Mrs. John Taylor, Mrs. Clarence Toelke, Mrs. Floyd Welliver and Miss Edna Hansen, a brother Peter of Fremont; two sisters Mrs. Burt Johnson of Greenwood and Karolene Hansen of Denmark; and eleven grandchildren.

Funeral services were in charge of the Bendorf Funeral Home.
