The community was very much shocked to learn of the sudden illness of the wife of Mr. Nels O. Hansen, which resulted in her death on Sunday morning. Mrs. Hansen, who had lived in Kennard for some years, had endeared herself to the community by her quiet unassuming nature and her exemplary home life and devotion to her children and family were always evident.

Besides her husband she leaves behind two little children of tender age, Alfred, aged eight, and Annie, aged four, and it is needless to say that the sympathy of the community goes out in very large measure to them.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Hiller of Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, and were very largely attended, the church being crowded and its capacity exhausted and many compelled to stand outside. The text for sermon was Paul’s expression to the Philippians “I am in a strain betwixt two, have a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better; Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.” Phil 1: 23, 24. And the doctor dwelt upon the devotion of a woman to her loved ones in that while she through pain and suffering was willing that it should all be ended was yet willing to endure in order that she might help and benefit those who needed her life and efforts to help them.

Interment was at Kennard Cemetery.

We append the following obituary; Oline K. Sorensen was born in Denmark, Feb. 17, 1882. Came to Nebraska in 1884. On March 5, 1903, she married to Nels O. Hansen, and to this union two children were born who, with the husband, survive. Died March 12, 1911, aged 29 years, 23 days.
