Blair Newspapers April 1984 Services Held for 76 Year Old Howard Rhea

Funeral services for Howard Rhea, 76, of Arlington were 11 a.m. Monday at the Arlington Community Church with the Rev. Gene Laramy officiating.

Mr. Rhea died Wednesday at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after a short illness.

Mr. Rhea was born June 30, 1907, in Arlington. He was a retired farmer and lifelong resident of Arlington.

Mr. Rhea had extensive land holdings and was well known in the livestock and hay processing industries of the Midwest.

He was a member and trustee of the Arlington Community Church, past president of the American Dehydrators Association and Nebraska Dehydrators Association, member of the Hiriam Masonic Lodge 52, A.F. and A.M., Scottish Rite of Omaha and the Tangier Temple and Washington County Fair Secretary.

He was married to Lola Redding on March 2, 1940, in Omaha. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Bill of Arlington; two daughters, Mrs. Steven (Ruth Ann) Bluma of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Miss Marty Rhea of Billings, Montana; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Larsen and Miss Vivian Rhea, both of Omaha; and seven grandchildren.

Masonic services were at 7 p.m. Sunday at Rozanek Funeral Home in Arlington by the Hiriam Masonic Lodge 52 A.F. & A.M. Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Arlington Library and Arlington Community Church.
