Services for a former Blair Mayor and prominent Blair businessman were held on Monday, March 31, 1980. The service was for Raymond C. Hansen, 69, who passed away March 27th. The Blair Rescue Squad was called to the Blair Maple Restaurant where Mr. Hansen was having coffee with some friends. He had suffered with a heart condition for many years.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Rev. Gordon Patterson and Dr. C. C. Madsen officiated. Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and burial at the Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Hansen was born to Frank W. and Manada Hansen on March 25th, 1911 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He married Margaret Dorn on June 3, 1942. His wife Margaret survives him along with two sons and a daughter. The sons are David R. of San Diego, California and Richard F. of Dallas, Texas. The daughter is Mrs. Brent (Jane) Gilbert of Blair. There are four grandchildren and a brother, Fred W. Hansen, of Fort Calhoun also surviving.

Mr. Hansen has made a big impression on the community through his business and community service activities over the years. He founded the Hansen Agency, Inc., in Blair about 35 years ago; he was a past member of the Nebraska Real Estate Commission; Past President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Nebraska; Recipient of Dana College Annual College Community Service Award; served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II and was Mayor of Blair for six years between 1954 and 1959.

He was a member of the Blair Community School Board; Co-Chairman of the Dana Diamond Jubilee Fund Drive; the first mayor campaign for one million dollars; Co-Chairman for two years of the Blair Annual appeal for Dana; Member of the First United Methodist Church; Lay Leader and member of the Board of Trustees; Past President of the Blair Chamber of Commerce; Member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Blair Rotary (past president), Blair Lions Club, Past Master of Solomon Lodge Number 10 of Fort Calhoun and a member of the Tangier Shrine Temple and the Mo-Ri Shrine Club of Blair.

The family is asking that any memorials be directed toward Dana College, Blair Memorial Community Hospital or the First United Methodist Church in Blair.

Active Pallbearers were John Christopher, Robert Harrison, Harold Rabbass, Jim Taylor, Gordon Vinton and Keith Vinton.

Honorary Pallbearers: J. Stewart Maurer, Frank Cope, Dr. C. C. Madsen, Rick Johnson, Everett Stork, George Campbell, Dr. C. D. Howard, Walt Peterson, Harold Wright, Kelly Ryan, Lester Goodwin and Bernie Kros.
