Services for Pastor Thorvald Hansen, 70, of Blair, who died Tuesday, August 12, 1986, will be held Friday, August 15, 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Blair. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 14 at Campbell Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Hansen was born in Westbrook, Maine on March 9, 1916, the son of Hans and Marie Hansen.

He attended Dana College and Trinity Seminary in Blair. He was ordained on June 6, 1943, in Racine, Wisconsin by Dr. N. C. Carlsen.

He married Esther Carlsen on May 25, 1943 in Blair.

Parishes served by Pastor Hansen include: English Lutheran, Avoca, Iowa 1943-1946; Our Saviour’s Harland, Wisconsin, 1946-1954; began and organized Mission at Galilee Lutheran, Pewaukee, Wisconsin, 1951-1954; Emmaus, Racine Wisconsin, 1954-1968; Our Saviour’s, Audubon, Iowa, 1969-1981.

Hansen retired in 1981, settling in Blair, where he was part-time chaplain at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.

Survivors include his wife of Blair and four daughters, Carolyn Larsen of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mrs. Floyd (Ruth) Peck of Olathe, Kansas, Mrs. Joseph (Sarah) Anderson of Blair, Mrs. Joseph (Paula) Brinkman, Philadelphia, PA, and Mrs. Allen (Lois) Borkowski of Sergeant Bluffs, Iowa.

Campbell Funeral Home of Blair is in charge of arrangements.
