Janine Ragan, 49

Janine Marie Ragan, age 49 of Blair, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 10 after a long complicated battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Blair at 11:30 AM on Wednesday April 13, 2016. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 12 from 6 to 8 PM at the First United Methodist Church. A private interment will follow at the Lanesboro Cemetery in Iowa at a later date.

Janine Marie Ragan was born on September 18, 1966 in Marshalltown, IA, the daughter of J. Gordon and Jean (Subbert) Toyne. She attended Winona State College in Minnesota after graduating from high school in Elgin, Minnesota. She married David Ragan on August 31, 2008, and had one daughter, Hannah, from a previous marriage. Janine worked for Mid-America Computer Corp as a Transmit Processor for the past 15 years, where she formed many lifelong friendships with both coworkers and companies that she interacted with. She had a uniquely creative imagination, and loved to create personal items for home, family and friends. Janine was known for her ability to craft the right words for any situation, and was often sought out by her friends for help.

Janine is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Hannah Hasterlo (Sam); granddaughter, Violet Marie Hasterlo; parents, Gordy and Jeanie Toyne; brothers, J Brett Toyne (Mindy) and James Toyne (Kayla); sisters, Jocelyn Mees (Vern) and Janell VanHouten (Corey); numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and of course, her many dear friends.

She was preceded in death and welcomed to heaven by her grandparents, John and Mary Toyne, and Dr. A. N. and Eula Richey.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Methodist Hospital Home Health and Hospice, or to the Lydia House in Omaha.
