BARBARA A. LOFTIS, 83

Barbara Ann Loftis, 83, of Blair, died Monday, April 7, 2008, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Funeral services were Thursday, April 10, at the Congregational Church UCC in Blair.

Barbara Ann Loftis was born Oct. 17, 1924, on a farm northwest of Herman to Leonard and Mary (Skinner) Loftis.

Except for her time spent at the orthopedic hospital in Lincoln, she spent the next 42 years on her parents' farm southwest of Herman. Her mother was devoted to her physical care and her father was devoted to her educational and religious care.

When her mother became ill, she was moved to a home in Milford, then to the Bethphage Home in Axtell, where she lived for 14 years. They taught her many things and she was confirmed in their church. She then moved to the Crowell Home in Blair where she could be closer to her family and she lived there for 27 years.

She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard Jr. and Janet Loftis of Herman and Alan and Fran Loftis of Seward; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Carl Launer of Omaha; Betty and Dale Finch of Page, Ariz.; and Ruth and Larry Nelson of Arlington.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Tom. (The website Find-A-Grave identifies her burial site as Herman Cemetery.)
