Clarence Smith, 61

Graveside services for Clarence J. “Jack” Smith, 61, of Arlington who died August 5, 1992 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont were Saturday, August 8 at Arlington Cemetery.

Clarence Smith was born August 25, 1930 in Emmett, Idaho. He attended school in Valley and worked at the Geo. A. Hormel & Co. before serving with the US. Marines 1951-52. He returned to work for Hormel, working there 20 years. He was owner of 4J & P Locker Plant at Arlington for nine years. He then sold automobiles for several Ford dealerships since 1979. He moved to Arlington I 1971.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 71 of Arlington.

Smith married Pat Eckert August 10, 1952 at Valley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Belle Powers Smith and a sister, Beverly Bramson.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Christine Smith of Wahoo; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Kevin Matthews and Jaynee and Don Oldjenbruns, all of Arlington; a brother, William H. Smith of Fremont and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Skip Neiderdeppe, Dr. James Carlson, Charles House, John Ehlers, Tom Ohm and Johnny Smith.

A memorial has been established to the Cornhusker Children’s Home in York.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
