Mrs. Will Japp, Pioneer Of County, Dies

Had Spent Entire Life Of 75 Years Near Kennard

Mrs. Will Japp, pioneer Washington County woman, passed away at the Blair hospital last Sunday. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Japp, the former Dora M. Harder, was born in Washington County July 18, 1876 and made this county her home all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Harder, early-day settlers of this county.

Mrs. Japp grew to womanhood in the Kennard vicinity and was married to William L. Japp on December 5, 1896. Immediately following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Japp took up farming on a place two miles east of Kennard and this has continued to be their home for nearly sixty years. Mr. and Mrs. Japp celebrated their golden wedding anniversary six years ago when they were showered with gifts and felicitations by the hundreds of friends they had amassed during their long married life.

Mrs. Japp was the mother of five children, four of whom survive her passing. A son, Rudolph, resides at Blair. Walter Japp and Fritz Japp live at Kennard and a daughter (Christina), Mrs. Paul Wulf, also lives at Kennard. A son died at the age of two.

Mrs. Japp is survived by her husband and two sisters. They are Mrs. R. G. Wiese of Kennard, and Mrs. Ed Wiese of Kingfisher, Oklahoma. A sister, Mrs. Anna Bock, passed away a short time ago. A brother, Henry Harder, resides at Dennison, Iowa. There are 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Kennard Methodist church with the Rev. J. D. Johnson of Blair delivering the funeral sermon. Burial, under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home at Blair was made in the Kennard cemetery.

Six grandsons served as pallbearers. They were Lyle Japp, Walter Japp Jr., Richard Japp, Merle Japp, Donald Wulf and Clifford Wulf.

Mrs. Will Japp, 76, Succumbs

Lifetime Countian, Mrs. Japp Dies; Husband, Children Survive

Mrs. Will Japp, 76, of near Kennard, who was born and spent her entire life in the Kennard vicinity, died Sunday morning at Blair Hospital.

Mrs. Japp, as Dora Harder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Harder, was born July 18, 1876, in the vicinity south of Kennard. She and Will Japp were married Dec. 5, 1896, and last winter observed their 56th wedding anniversary.

The services, with the Bendorf Funeral Home of Blair in charge of arrangements, were held at 2 p.m. yesterday at the Kennard Methodist Church. The Rev. J. D. Johnson of Blair's Seventh Day Adventist Church officiated, with interment following in Blair** Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were six grandsons, Lyle, Richard, Merle and Walter Japp Jr., and Donald and Clifford Wulf.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Rudolph Japp of Blair; Walter and Fritz Japp of Kennard; one daughter, Mrs. Paul Wulf (Christina) of Kennard; one brother, two sisters, including Mrs. G. Wiese of Kennard; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
