Cook Rites to be Friday

Peter Cook, Lifetime Kennard Resident, Died In Oakland Hospital

Funeral rites for Peter Cook, 63, of Kennard, who died in Oakland Hospital yesterday, will be held Saturday at 2 o’clock at the Methodist Church in Kennard. Burial will be in the Kennard cemetery with the Rev. Henry Klienert officiating. The Campbell Mortuary of Blair is in charge.

Mr. Cook was born July 1, 1888, near Kennard and farmed in that vicinity until a few years ago. He has been in poor health for some time.

Survivors are one son, Howard of Kennard: four grandchildren; one brother, Soren Cook of Denver, four sisters, Mrs. Matthew Cumberworth (Margaret) of Santa Ana, Calif., Mrs. Ernest Smith (Mary) of Riverside, Calif.; Mrs. Hans Sorensen (Stena) of Kennard and Mrs. Lars Frandsen (Hanna) of Uehling.

Peter R. Cook Died Wednesday

Peter R. Cook, 62, a resident of the Kennard vicinity all of his life, passed away early Wednesday morning at the Oakland, Nebraska hospital. Mr. Cook had been confined to a nursing home there since last fall.

The deceased was born at Kennard July 1, 1889, the son of the late Nick and Nelsenia Cook. He attended the Kennard schools and grew to manhood in that vicinity.

He was married to Gabriel Carson in 1925 and to this union one son, Howard Cook, was born.

Mr. Cook, during his lifetime, was a farmer and laborer and was well known in his home community.

He was baptized in the Lutheran faith when but a youth and later became a member of the Modern Woodman lodge.

He is survived by his son, Howard, a brother, Soren Cook of Denver, Colorado; and four sisters: Mrs. Hans Sorensen of Kennard; Mrs. Lars Frandsen of Uehling; Mrs. Matthew Cumberworth of Santa Anna, California, and Mrs. Ernest Smith of Riverside, California.

There are four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at two o’clock Saturday at the Methodist church in Kennard. The Rev. Henry Kleinert will be in charge of the services and burial will be in the Kennard cemetery. Campbell Mortuary of Blair is in charge of arrangements.

Note: Pete is buried in Blk 6 Lt 31 Sp 5.
