Nina 'Carol' Young, 91

Nina Caroline “Carol” Young (nee Kirkpatrick) died peacefully at Good Shepherd Lutheran Community on April 22, 2016, in Blair, NE, at the age of 91.

Nina is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jack Lorsch, Kennard, NE; son-in-law, Marty Clague (Martha Brown), Red Lodge, MT; grandchildren, Nicole (Greg) Prososki, Agnew, NE; Rebecca Lorsch, West Des Moines, IA; Jason (Janelle) Lorsch, Kennard, NE; Lisa (Shawn) Kelly, Omaha, NE; Ian Clague, Bellevue, NE; Leslie Clague, Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Sophia Prososki, Jensen and June Lorsch and Owen Kelly. Sisters: Judy Hicks, Shreveport, LA; Dorothy Carrow, Piedmont, MO; Freda McMurray, St. James, MO; Edna (Norman) Darden, Cedar Hill, MO.

Nina is preceded in death by her husband, George Young; daughter, Georgia Clague; parents, Alice and Joseph Kirkpatrick; brothers, Edward, Ellis, Elmer and Bill Kirkpatrick; sisters, Irene Magnusson, Inez Martin and Betty Kime.

Nina was born February 16, 1925, in Greenville, MO, to Alice (Rainwater) and Joseph Kirkpatrick. Nina graduated from Patterson High School in Patterson, MO. She attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO. After graduation, she taught elementary school for one year in Safe, MO. Nina met her future husband, George, when he was stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Nina married George William Young on January 5, 1946, in Omaha, NE. Nina worked for Kitty Clover Potato Chip Company until her retirement. She will be remembered as a kind, gentle, patient mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She liked to sew and watch baseball and volleyball.

Nina was a member of Dietz United Methodist Church in Omaha, NE.

Visitation will be at Kennard Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard, NE on Tuesday, April 26 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 27 at 11 a.m. at Kennard Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard, NE, with lunch to follow. Graveside services will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, NE at 3 p.m.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nina’s life. The family suggests memorials be directed to Kennard Grace United Methodist Church or Kennard Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
