Dr. Clifford T. Hanson, 80, of Blair, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Blair Memorial Community Hospital.

Services were 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Clifford T. Hanson was born July 10, 1919, to J. Arndt and Clara (Tange) Hanson in Hutchinson, Minn.

He baptized on Aug. 10, 1919, in Hutchinson, Minn.

After his graduation from Hutchinson High School, he attended Dana College for two years and then the Univeristy of Minnesota, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1941 and a Master of Arts degree in 1946.

He received a Doctorate of Philosophy degree from the University of Nebraska in 1955.

He began his career as a pastor in Underwood, Iowa, in 1944 and served for five years.

On May 25, 1944 he married Florence Hanson in Blair.

A professor of philosophy and religion at Dana College, he served as the Academic Dean from 1979 to 1987.

He was a member of the American Philosophical Association, and served as chairman of the Good Shepherd Home Board, chairman of the Nebraska Committee for the Humanities, and on the Blair World of Entertainment Board.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald and Yvonne Hanson of Portland, Ore. and Neil Hanson of Austin, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Wade Bolton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Marian Svendsen of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and one brother, Roger, and his wife, Marilyn Hanson of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Florence, who died in May of 1999.

Memorials are suggested to the Clifford T. and D. Florence Hanson Scholarship Fund-Dana College or to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair was in charge of arrangements.
