SERVICES FOR HOWARD C. HANSON SR. HELD TUESDAY

Services for Howard C. Hanson, Sr. were held at the Herman Methodist Church on Tuesday, February 25th. Mr. Hanson had passed away at the Punta Gorda Medical Center in Florida where Mr. and Mrs. Hanson were on vacation. Mr. Hanson, a resident of Herman, died from progressive emphysema. Gordon Patterson officiated with Hamel & Peck in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Hanson was President and Chairman of the Board of the Blair Bank. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Landmark Lodge 222, Herman; Scottish Rite, York Rite of Blair; Tangier Shrine and Jesters of Omaha.

Mr. Hanson was born at Omaha, Nebraska on August 16, 1904 to E. P. Hanson and Lucy Cooper. E. P. Hanson founded the Herman State Bank with Howard C. Hanson Sr. taking over the Herman bank from his father. Later, he moved the bank to Blair and the name was changed to the Blair Bank.

He was married to Verona Berniece Bailey. She passed away on November 24, 1958. On March 24, 1959, Mr. Hanson was married to Helen Speas in Phoenix Arizona.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, a son Howard C. Hanson Jr., and a stepson, Dr. Van Speas of Ft. Myers, Florida. There are four grandchildren, H. Cooper Hanson, III, Rebecca Hanson, Suzanne Hanson and Craig Hanson.

Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Anderson, Kermit Hanson, Don Reimer, Ned Tyson, Melvern West and Michael Yanney. Pallbearers were: Frank Gabby, Ray Halford, Monte Mead, Jerry Roe, George Sheets, Jr., and M. Lyndon Wederquist.

A memorial fund has been set up in Mr. Hanson’s name for the Blair Memorial Community Hospital.
