Marion V. Hanson, 83, of Blair, died Dec. 7, 2004, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Private graveside services were held Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.

Marion V. Hanson was born in 1921 in St. Louis, Mo., to Edith and Laurice Hanson.

She was married in 1948 to John “Art” Hanson.

She worked as a secretary for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in Omaha and for NOAA in Seattle, Wash., before retiring. She had moved to Blair in 1998 to be closer to her family. She loved books, visiting with friends, sewing and quilt making. She had an avid interest in current events, politics, history and the arts and enjoyed discussing all aspects of them with friends and family.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Douglas Hanson of Rochester, N.Y., Curtiss and Michaela Hanson of Cedar Falls, Iowa; daughters and sons-in-law, Kristine and Joseph Burns of Blair, Deborah and William Gosnold of Grand Forks, N.D.; brothers, Donald Hanson of Bellevue, Wash.; sister, Dorothy Farthing of Springdale, Arkansas; nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Art.

Memorials are suggested to the Blair Library Foundation or Dana College.
