HELEN HAPPEL DIED AT AGE OF 83

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 14, 1984 for Helen Happel at the Faith United Methodist Church in Tilden, Nebraska.

Helen Happel, the daughter of Carl Hindley and Ida (Carpenter) Hindley, was born at Blair, Nebraska on March 7, 1901. Helen graduated from Blair High School and Wayne State Teachers college. She then taught at the Pilger Public School before her marriage to Arthur Happel at Blair. The couple made their home in Oakland until his death in 1956. Helen resumed her teaching career at North Platte for 13 years, retiring and moving to Tilden in 1969.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and its Ladies Aid; Royal Neighbors, Tilden Hospital Auxiliary, Sunshine Club and the Tilden Senior Center.

Helen died at the Tilden Community Hospital on August 11, 1984 at the age of 83 years.

She is survived by her son, Jack, of Tilden; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Billie Chapman of Sunland, California and Mrs. Bernice Frazuer of Grants Pass, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Richard; one daughter, Janet; three brothers; and two sisters.

Officiating was Rev. Stan LaRue. Interment was at Oakland Cemetery at Oakland, Nebraska.
