The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Harbs, a pioneer of Nebraska, occurred last Thursday from Bright’s disease. Deceased was born in Hesse, Germany, in 1833 and came to this country in 1874 and settled in Omaha where they remained a short time. The family settled on their farm two and a half miles west of Kennard twenty-five years ago and in that time made many warm friends. Mrs. Harbs has been a great sufferer all winter and death came as a gentle release to the racked body. To mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother, deceased leaves a husband, one son, Henry Jensen and a daughter Mrs. Chris Hansen. The funeral took place Saturday at noon, Rev. A. Larsen officiating. The family have the sympathy of a host of friends in this hour of sorrow.~Monday’s Pilot

Find A Grave Memorial# 26385267 Information from a relative:

Hans Jensen came from Haderslaben, German, to America in 1872. His wife, Elizabeth Wilhelm, was born September 16, 1833 in Germany.

Hans had been a druggist in Germany, but his arrival here could not get that kind of work. After finding a place to live and work in Omaha, Nebraska, he sent for Elizabeth and their two children, Christina and Henry. A few months after they arrived, Hans died.

Later, Elizabeth married a bachelor farmer named John Harbs and moved to his farm in the March School district near Kennard.

The two children of Elizabeth and Hans were:

* Christina, born in 1864; married C.B. Hansen and had seven children: Mary, Claudina, Edna, Selma, Lillie, Bert and Orvin.

* Henry, born June 30, 1869; married Johanna Hansen who was born at Kennard on August 22, 1874, the daughter of Carl and Elizabeth Hansen. They had eight children: Arthur, William, Leslie, Mabel, Albert, Oscar, Bertha and Ella.
