SERVICE HELD FOR META HARDER

Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington on Thursday, March 24, for Meta Louise Kruse Harder, 87, who died March 21, 1983, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Dr. Norman E. Schroeder officiated. Burial was in the German Cemetery.

Meta Louise Kruse Harder was born February 18, 1896, to Wilhelm and Abel Stoldt Kruse in Douglas County west of Bennington. She attended school in Douglas County at the Startown School, District 43.

She was baptized on August 9, 1896. She was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church on March 20, 1910, and had been a life-long member of that congregation.

She married John Harder at St. John’s Lutheran Church on February 21, 1917. They farmed near Arlington for about a year and a half. They then moved to the Harder home place and farmed there until September 21, 1977, when they moved to Crowell Home in Blair.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, who died August 13, 1982, and one daughter, Dorothy.

She is survived by four daughters, Wilma (Mrs. Albert) Arnold and Annamarie Harder, both of Omaha; Bernice Dringenberg of Long Beach, California; and Helen Bolter of Omaha; and three sons, Raymond Harder of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Arlend Harder of Badger, Minnesota, and Rolland Harder of Omaha. Three brothers, Herman Kruse of Bennington, Chris Kruse and Henry Kruse of Omaha; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive her.

Casketbearers were Steve Harder, Kenneth Harder, Scott Harder, Donald Arnold, Ronald L. Arnold and Ronald R. Arnold.

Miriam Sukraw was organist. Joyce Johnson was vocalist.
