Alfred Skov

Services for Alfred J. “Doc” Skov, 84, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 18 at First Lutheran Church in Blair with Carl Shattauer, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

He was born August 13, 1902, in Spiker to Ludvig and Christina (Jacobsen) Skov.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum.

He farmed in Washington County for many years, moving to Blair in 1948, where he worked at the Blair Cemetery for the city of Blair for 10 years.

On December 20, 1922, he married Ethel Newkirk, who preceded him in death in 1972.

To this union, one son, Lyle Skov of Wayne, was born.

On May 3, 1975, he married Helen (Larson) Svengard of Blair, who survives him.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, Diane Backman of Phoenix, Arizona, and Rodney Skov of Lincoln; seven great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, Lila Conrad of Omaha, Marlene Sutherland of Grand Island, Peggy Williams of Omaha, Alan Svengard of Blair and Tim Svengard of Blair, 13 step-grandchildren and 12 step-greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
