Genevieve Slader, 83

Genevieve Roberta Slader, 83, died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at her home in Fort Calhoun.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Slader was born May 4, 1914, in St. Louis, Mo., to Bernard Dorsey and Elizabeth Reed. She grew up in Lincoln, Neb., and attended the University of Nebraska there, receiving a degree in English. On Dec. 4, 1941, she married Dean C. Slader in Omaha. She was the museum curator for the Washington County Historical Museum.

She was a member of the Fort Calhoun Women’s Club, Washington County Historical Association and served on its board of directors, the Nebraska State Historical Society and was a charter member of the Fort Atkinson Foundation.

Survivors are two sons, Dean S. Slader and John D. Slader; two daughters, Susan G Slader Bennerotte and Martha A. Slader Haines; seven grandchildren and one brother, Robert Hummel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean C. Slader.

Memorials may be given to the Washington County Historical Association or the Omaha Literacy Council.
