Mr. William Harrison, a long resident of Herman, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bert Cooper, from a paralytic stroke at Tekamah, Neb., Saturday, January 6. The funeral services were held in Tekamah, Monday, January 8th. Interment at the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

William Henry Harrison was born in Michigan City, Indiana, July 4, 1841, being christened in the M. E. church. He enlisted at the outbreak of the Civil War in Co. H. 3rd Mo. Volunteer Infantry, and later in Co. F. 15th Volunteer Infantry, serving throughout the war. He came to Calhoun, Nebraska, in 1868, where he was united in marriage to Viola L. Miller on June 13th, 1873. To this union were born eight children, seven whom survive him. They are Willard, Edgar, and Laurence Harrison and Mrs. Maggie Cooper, all living near Herman; Mrs. Nettie Cooper, Tekamah; and Charles Harrison of Des Moines, Iowa; all of whom were present at the funeral. One son preceded him in death, dying in infancy. His wife preceded him in death, dying twenty-one years ago. Mr. Harrison died January 6, 1923, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 2 days. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Tekamah by the Rev. W. H. Jackson and Rev. W. A. Bowden officiating. The services were attended by the Grand Army of the Republic and the Women’s Relief Corps, who also conducted brief services at the church. Burial took place in the cemetery at Calhoun, beside the bodies of his beloved wife and son who had gone before to that happy land, where there will be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away.

William Henry Harrison, a civil war veteran, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bert Cooper, at Tekamah, Saturday afternoon. He celebrated his 81st birthday July 4th.

He was ill but two weeks during which time he had two slight strokes and gradually grew weaker.

He leaves as immediate relative’s five sons and two daughters, Chas. Of Des Moines, William Lawrence, Ed and Ray and Mrs. Harry Cooper of all of Herman and Mrs. Bert Cooper of Tekamah.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Tekamah, Monday at 10:30 conducted by Rev. W. A. Bowden. The remains was taken to Calhoun and laid to rest beside his wife who had passed away a number of years ago.
