Kennard native Alfred W. hart, 83, of Ogden, Utah, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living in Utah.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 23, at Leavitt’s Mortuary in Ogden. Interment was at the Ogden City Cemetery.

Alfred William Hart was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Kennard to William H. and Bertha Luthina (Goreham) Hart. He graduated from Blair High School in 1941.

On June 23, 1942, he married Gwendolyn Marie Hopkins in Fremont.

He served in the United States of Army as a machine anti-aircraft gunner from July 17, 1943, until he was honorably discharged on Dec. 1, 1945. He survived the landing at Omaha Beach.

He was employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and Ogden Naval Supply Depot, retiring in 1980. He was a long-time member and elder of First Christian Church, and was currently attending New Beginnings Fellowship.

He was a master mason in good standing in Golden Spike Lodge No. 6 A.F. & A.M. and a member of Queen Esther No. 4 Order of Eastern Star. He served as an advisor to Jobs Daughters and DeMolay. He enjoyed bowling league for more than 60 years. He always had a bountiful garden that he shared with friends and family.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Sandy Hart and Ronald and Gloria Jean Hart; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Jim Lewis and Marcia and Darrell Ross; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn; a sister, and two grandsons.

Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Fairfax Road and Virginia Street, Salt Lake City, UT, 84103.
