HART'S BODY FOUND IN THE RIVER

NEARLY BLIND MAN FOUND DEAD; MISSING SINCE OCT. 10

The body of 66-year old William Hart, nearly blind man who had been missing from home more than a week, was found Tuesday.

As had been feared, Mr. Hart had drowned in the Missouri River. His body was found shortly before noon Tuesday on the east shore of the river, near Council Bluffs.

Mr. Hart had been reported missing since Sunday, Oct. 10. Several persons had reported seeing him making his way eastward along Highway 30 toward the river that morning.

Identification of the body was made by John Hart of Blair, a half-brother.

Burial took place at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Blair Cemetery.

The Campbell Mortuary had charge of arrangements. Officiating at brief graveside rites was the Rev. H. C. Jorgensen of First Lutheran Church.

Mr. Hart is survived by his wife, Bertha; one daughter, Mrs. Elsie Prince of Norfolk and one son, Alfred Hart of Ogden, Ut., who arrived here by plane yesterday morning. There were six grandchildren.

Mr. Hart was born at Winside, Dec. 4, 1887. He came to Blair in 1907 where he was married to Bertha Goreham Sept. 8, 1908.

Other survivors include Mr. Hart’s stepmother, Mrs. Mary Hart of Blair; two sisters Mrs. Eva Hansen of Fremont and Mrs. Elizabeth Gabler of Winside; three half-brothers, John and Fred Hart of Blair and Raymond Hart of Hastings; and one half-sister, Mrs. Helen Carter of Omaha.
