Emma Sue Hartley, 89, of Tacoma, Wash., passed away June 11, 2002. She was 89 years old.

She was born in August, 1912 to Otto and Lizzie Mencke.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Don Mencke; sisters, Gertrude Nelson, Deloris Kochner, Minnie Thaden, Betty Brothers, Sophie Hineline, Martha Cushman, Pearl Anderson; her husband, Chuck Hartley; a son, Robert Lee Lund; and a grandson, Monte Lund.

Survivors include her sisters, Helen Hineline, Opal Warrick, Norma Rapp and Barbara Aronson; four grandchildren, Coleen Campbell of Grain Valley, Mo., Ginger Austin of Blair, Brad Lund of Grandledge, Mich., and Nathan Lund of Tekamah; 12 great-grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was cremated with her ashes spread in her rose garden. A memorial service will be 7 p.m. June 24 at the Holy Court Kingdom Hall in Fir Crest, Wash.
