Funeral services for Darrell Hartwig, 67 who died July 7, 1990 in a hospital in Visalia, California after a long illness were held Thursday, July 12 at St. John Lutheran church in Dunlap. Rev. Steve Solberg officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Darrell Raymond Hartwig was born September 16, 1922 on a farm near Dunlap, Iowa to Louis and Verna Hartwig. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap.

After working four years in airplane factories in Omaha, Nebraska and Buffalo, New York, he spent the rest of his life farming near Dunlap. He had gone to California to spend the winter with his sister and her husband, Phyllis and Vernon Hawn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lloyd; and three sisters, Delores, Ardeen and Arlene.

He is survived by one daughter, Sherri (Mrs. Fred) McIntosh of Blair and grandchildren, Angela, Amy, Scott and Troy; one son, Rodney of Dunlap and grandchildren, Clinton and Evon; one sister, Phyllis Hawn of California; and 16 nieces and nephews.

Music was provided by Marica Solberg, Bill Cunard was soloist.

Casket bearers were Allen Hartwig, Paul Assman, Dave Roberts, Scott Hicks McIntosh, Larry Emswiler and Keith Thompson.
