Virginia S. Toth, 91, died Feb. 23, 2011, at her home in Craig.

A funeral Mass was held Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tekamah. Interment was in the Craig Cemetery.

Virginia Sabina Eremewicz was born July 29, 1919, in Pittsburgh, Penn., to Sylvester and Sophia (Maksymowicz) Eremewicz. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Tulsa, Okla., where her parents owned and operated a diner. In 1937, she graduated from Marquette High School in Tulsa.

On June 28, 1941, she married John A.Toth in St. Charles, Mo. Their eight daughters were born and raised on the family farm in St. Charles County.

Mrs. Toth was a member of St. Theodore's Catholic Church in Flint Hill, Mo., until she moved to Craig in 2007. She then became a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tekamah.

The most important things in her life were faith and family, followed by her love of gardening, flowers, crocheting, baking bread and making wine.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannette and Jim Harris of O'Fallon, Mo., Geraldine and Mike Ready of Sun City Center, Fla., Louise and Mel Gregory of Cadiz, Ky., Susan and Ray Haines and Katheryn Holland, all of Columbia, Mo., former Blair residents, Ali and Kenny Petersen of Tekamah, and Stephanie and Bob Boardley of Craig; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, a sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a daughter, Mary Ann Angleitner; grandson, Lucas Holland; four sisters; and one brother.

Memorials are suggested to the American Kidney Foundation or the building fund at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Pelan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
