Buried in Little Sioux, Iowa

Ivan Barr Lytle, H.S. Lytle's father, was found dead in bed at about 7 o'clock this morning at the H.S. Lytle home. Breakfast was ready and Mr. Lytle called his father and when he failed to respond he touched him and found him dead. The body was still warm, showing that death had come but a few moments before, of heart failure. He had been suffering from heart trouble for about three weeks and was unable to go up town, but was up about the house every day. The body will be taken to his old home at Little Sioux, Ia., tomorrow afternoon for burial beside his wife, who passed away in 1894.

Mr. Lytle was born at Coshocton, Ohio, Jan. 8, 1836, and was therefore almost 77 years of age. He was baptized in the L.D.S. church when but 9 years old, and came to Council Bluffs with what is known as the "Mormon Exodus" in 1847. His parents left the band there and finally settled in western Iowa in 1856.

In 1865 he was married to Miss Lucy Younger and of this union three children are now living, Hugh, of Little Sioux, David, of Denver, and H.S. of this city. Hugh was here visiting his father last week, also his son, Roy. Mr. Lytle's brother, James, was also here from Sioux City for a week, leaving only Monday. Mr. Lytle came to Blair with H.S. in 1899 and has made his home here most of the time since. He was always a good husband, a good father and as such was a good citizen. He will long be held in kindly remembrance by all who knew him.

The remains of Ivan Barr Lytle were taken to Little Sioux, Iowa, last Thursday and buried beside those of his wife who died in 1894, the following day.

Deceased was the father of H.S. Lytle of this city and had been making his home with him, but roomed in the adjoining house. Failing to respond to a call for breakfast, an investigation was made and the old gentleman was found dead in bed, having died sometime during Tuesday night. He had been troubled with his heart for the past month and his death was undoubtedly due to heart failure.

He was a kindly old gentleman and has made many friends in Blair who will miss his cheery greetings in the future, for his figure was a familiar one on the streets, although he had not been able to be up town for the past week or two but was able to get about the house every day.

Deceased was born in Coshocton, Ohio, January 8, 1836, and was nearly 77 years old.
