#1-Druggist at Kennard Dies

HOMER E. WARD, 58, DIED SUDDENLY: IN FAILING HEALTH SEVERAL YEARS

Homer E. Ward, 58, operator of Ward’s Pharmacy at Kennard for a quarter of a century died suddenly Monday. In failing health several years, he became ill Monday and died after reaching Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

The funeral was held at the Kennard Methodist Church Wednesday, the Rev. A. W. Ahrendts of York officiating, and burial followed in Kennard Cemetery.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ward, Mr. Ward was born Feb. 13, 1890 at Kennard, and had spent practically his entire life there. He was graduated from Creighton University in 1912 and later operated a drug store at Firth, Nebr,, for a few years.

Mr. Ward and Charlotte Berry were married in August, 1928l

Surviving the Kennard man are his widow, Charlotte; a daughter, Helen E. (Sue) of Omaha, a son, William Homer (Bobo) of Omaha; two brothers, Carl Ward of Kennard and Leland Ward of Omaha; and two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Timblin of Bennington and Mrs. Glen Rosenbaum (Nina) Kennard.

Native of Kennard And Life Long Business Man

Homer Ward of Kennard, who for the past four years has been afflicted with a heart ailment, died July 5th in the Methodist Hospital in Omaha as the result of a sudden heart attack.

Homer was born in Kennard in 1890 and was thus fifty eight years of age. In 1928 he was married to Charlotte Berry, and to them two children were born, Helen Elizabeth (Sue) 19 years of age and William Homer (Bo) 18 years.

Besides the wife and two children, he leaves two brothers, Carl of Kennard and Leland of Omaha and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Tiblin of Bennington and Mrs. Glenn Rosenbaum of Kennard and a host of close friends who will miss him greatly.

In his early life he took up pharmacy and for a number of years he operated a drug store in Kennard and also a grocery store. After his health failed him his wife took over the grocery business, and for the last few years she has conducted it most successfully.

Funeral rites were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Methodist church in Kennard with Rev. A. W. Ahrendt officiating, and interment was made in the Kennard cemetery.
