Jay G. Stewart, age 64 years, died of a heart attack at his home in Kennard on Monday, August 28th. He had been in good health apparently, and the end came as a great shock to the family. He was preceded in death by his father S. W. Stewart.

He was born Sept. 13, 1885 and was raised in Washington County. He farmed west of Blair until 1945 when he moved to Kennard. He served on the Kennard Town Board and also as secretary of the Kennard Cemetery Association.

At the time of his death he was active in the breeding of purebred shorthorn cattle and duroc jersey swine. All his life he was a shorthorn breeder and had made quite a reputation in that line.
