MIKE NELSEN RITES TUESDAY

Mike Nelsen of Kennard died at his home in that village last Monday at 10 a.m. following an illness of several weeks’ duration. He was born on a farm northwest of Kennard on July 31, 1876 and would have been 72 year of age at his next birthday.

He was married to Miss Pauline Rosenbaum on October 10, 1900, and to them five children were born, two sons and three daughters. The daughters are Mrs. Bert Hansen of Kennard, Miss Bernice Nelsen of Omaha and Mrs. Vernon Nelsen of Blair. The sons are Melvin Nelsen of Omaha and Leland of Holyoke, Colorado and these, with the devoted wife and mother and eight grandchildren, are left to mourn his passing.

With the exception of four years spent in Holyoke, Colorado, his entire life was spent in the vicinity of Kennard, and his old neighbors and friends all held him in the highest esteem and will miss his companionship.

He was a member of the Lutheran church and his life was proof that he lived the part.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the Kennard Lutheran church with Rev. P. L. Thorslev officiating and under the supervision of Chris K. Bendorf, Mortician, interment was made in the Kennard cemetery.
