Buried in Herman Cemetery

Published in Blair Enterprise on 28 February 1980

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 21, at the United Methodist Church in Herman for Ethel Letitia Lynos, who died Monday, February 18, 1980, at the age of 91, at Oakland, Nebraska. She had made her home there since the death of her mother in 1953.

Ethel Letitia Lyons was born on a farm in Western Washington County across Bellcreek to Joseph and Marietta Lyons.

Later they purchased a farm near the old Fletcher store in the vicinity of the New England School, the very busy blacksmith shop and within walking distance of the New England Baptist Church. She soon made friends in Oakland and became a regular churchgoer until a series of light strokes caused her to be moved to Oakland Heights. But even there, there were kind ladies who assisted the Nurses in making sure everyone was taken to the Thursday evening services.

Her interment was in the Herman Cemetery. Rev. Barbara Schenkel officiated and Mrs. Gene Husk, organist, and Mrs. Tom Wachter, soloist, provided the music.

Pallbearers were grand-nephews, Dale, Evan and Noel Rennerfeldt, Glenn Funk, Darwin Ruwe, and Terry Hovendick.

Only one sister, Mrs. Fred Hovendick, survives, plus 5 nieces and nephews, and 18 grand nieces and nephews.
