FATHER OF SAM LINGO DIES AT CROWELL HOME

Walter M. Lingo, the father of Sam Lingo of Blair, died at Crowell Memorial Home Sunday evening, Sept. 6, 1970. He was 94 ½ years old and had made his home at Crowell Home for the past five years.

Survivors are his five children: Samuel E. Lingo of Blair; Sedley M. Lingo of Loveland, Colorado; Mrs. Alice E. Frank of Fullerton, California; Mrs. Alfred Wildasin (Florence) of Lynwood, California; and Mrs. Keith Harris (Leola) of Santa Ana, California.

He is also survived by one brother and one sister and by thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lingo had farmed in Iowa and South Dakota, but before coming to Crowell Home, he had lived for several years with his daughters in California.

During the 1940’s he served two terms in the South Dakota Legislature.

He was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge, and in 1966, received his 50-year pin from the Grand Lodge of South Dakota. He was also a member of the Consistory at Pierre, South Dakota.

Services were conducted in the Bendorf Funeral Home Wednesday morning with the Rev. Guy McClure officiating. The Masonic rites conducted by Washington Lodge No. 21 were part of the service, with Peter Stricklett acting as Worshipful Master. Interment was in the Lingo plot in the Shenandoah, Ia. Cemetery.
