DIES IN SCOTLAND

Judge E. C. Jackson received word Monday of the death of Thomas Lindsay in Farfur, Scotland, whose body was found along a country road by a passing constable. At the inquest, death was attributed to heart failure and the body was buried in the land of Burns. Tom Lindsay was one of the pioneers of Washington County where for many years he engaged in farming and stock raising in Richland precinct, having proved up as early as 1875, and was rated as a god citizen and a staunch business man.

About fifteen years ago, Mr. Lindsay sold out his holdings in this county and went to San Diego, California, and later moved to Long Beach, where he made his home with a brother. Last May, he sailed for the land of his birth, where death overtook him. Mr. Lindsay was a bachelor and had no relatives in this country outside of the brother above mentioned. Many of the old residents of Washington county will be grieved to learn of the passing away of Tom Lindsay, who was one of the hardy set of men who fought their way to success through innumerable hardships.

OLD SETTLER DEAD

Judge Jackson has just received word that Tom Lindsay, a former resident of Richland township, died June 2nd in Scotland.

Lindsay located a claim in Richland about where the town of Washington is, in the late sixties and proved up on it in 1875. About fifteen years ago he went to San Diego, California and purchased an Orange and Lemon Grove. He was a member of the Masonic bodies at Blair and had never transferred his membership.

The letter notifying Judge Jackson of his death was written by a nephew who says that Mr. Lindsay dropped dead on the roads near his old home where he had recently come on a visit.
